Kiama Little Athletics’ 2017-2018 season came to a conclusion on Friday, April 6 with the annual presentation at Kiama Leisure Centre.

The Centre’s highest accolade is the Dean Blair Memorial Trophy which is presented to the athlete who attains the highest level of improvement throughout the season.

This year’s winner was Under 10 athlete Isabelle Hodgson.  In second place was Thomas Dal Bon (Under 6) and in third place was Joshua Kennedy (Under 11).

Dean Blair was a member of Kiama Little Athletics Centre in the 1980 season, joining at the age of nine.  In just three months Dean broke 15 records, a testimony to his natural ability.  Tragically Dean died in December 1980 as a result of a playground accident at school.  The perpetual trophy was struck in Dean’s memory.

Under 9 athlete Lily Bell was the recipient of the Coaches Most Improved Award.

The Centre’s annual general meeting was held after the Presentation at Kiama Leagues Club.  All Executive positions were filled but the Centre still needs a Canteen Coordinator and more General Committee  members.

Kiama Little Athletics Centre was formed in 1979.
It was the 114th Little Athletics Centre registered with sportsfield-statusLittle Athletics NSW.
We cater for children as young as 3 in Tiny Tots and Age Groups range from U/6 to U/17.
The Little Athletics season commences in September and concludes in March.
Our weekly competitions are held at the Kiama Sports Complex, Havilah Place, Kiama.  Due to the lack of adequate lighting the first five weeks are held from 9:00am on Saturday mornings.  Shortly after Daylight Saving commences competition moves to 5:30pm Friday evenings.  Over the years a dedicated group of people have worked tirelessly to provide the equipment and facilities that are available for the athletes to enjoy.  The Committee members are all volunteers with an active interest in promoting Little Athletics within the local community.  We encourage all athletes to compete at Carnivals run by other Centres.  Coming events will be advertised on this website as well as on the noticeboard during Competition.
Adverse Weather Announcements
In the event of adverse weather conditions a decision will be made at 4:00pm where possible.  Check this website or our “Kiama Little Athletics” Facebook page for updates.  An announcement will also be made on local radio stations i98fm and Wave FM, where time permits, after a decision has been made.
