Zone Success!

Kiama athletes performed admirably at the Mid South Coast Zone championships held at Myimbarr Community Park, Flinders, on the 9th and 10th of December.

Against some tough competition from the Albion Park, Lake Illawarra, Shoalhaven, St Georges Basin, and Milton Ulladulla Centres, Kiama athletes did the club proud.

Athletes from the Under 8 to Under 17 Age Groups who finished in the top three progress to the Region 4 Championships to be held at Wollongong in February 2018.  To date 32 Kiama athletes have qualified for the Region 4 Championships but more are expected to qualify on “next best” times and distances as results from other Zones filter through.

Kiama’s gold medal winners on the weekend were  Connor Deegan (Under 8), Bailey Egan (Under 9), Jasmine Snow (Under 10),  Cooper Deegan (under 11), Elias Oldfield (Under 11), Jordan Poole (Under 11), Noah Parker (Under 12), Lachlan Poole (Under 13), Eliza Schweitzer (Under 13), Tyrell Taione (Under 13), Georgia Richards (Under 14), Ella Cleal-Cook (Under 15), Matt Cordell (Under 15), Liam Hinchcliffe (Under 15), Alicia Burazin (Under 17), Lachlan Crawford (Under 17), Grace Mahon (Under 17) and Nathan Scollary (Under 17).

Under 7 athlete Ginger Siasat also won gold and was presented with LANSW medals at the carnival.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the weekend such a success particularly our Team Managers Sarah Cook and Dawn Calvert.

Results from the championships are available here.

Our last meet for 2017 will commence at 5:30pm on Friday 15th December.

We hope everyone has a happy and safe Christmas and will see you back at the track on January 12.

Kiama Little Athletics Centre was formed in 1979.
It was the 114th Little Athletics Centre registered with sportsfield-statusLittle Athletics NSW.
We cater for children as young as 3 in Tiny Tots and Age Groups range from U/6 to U/17.
The Little Athletics season commences in September and concludes in March.
Our weekly competitions are held at the Kiama Sports Complex, Havilah Place, Kiama.  Due to the lack of adequate lighting the first five weeks are held from 9:00am on Saturday mornings.  Shortly after Daylight Saving commences competition moves to 5:30pm Friday evenings.  Over the years a dedicated group of people have worked tirelessly to provide the equipment and facilities that are available for the athletes to enjoy.  The Committee members are all volunteers with an active interest in promoting Little Athletics within the local community.  We encourage all athletes to compete at Carnivals run by other Centres.  Coming events will be advertised on this website as well as on the noticeboard during Competition.
Adverse Weather Announcements
In the event of adverse weather conditions a decision will be made at 4:00pm where possible.  Check this website or our “Kiama Little Athletics” Facebook page for updates.  An announcement will also be made on local radio stations i98fm and Wave FM, where time permits, after a decision has been made.
