Kiama athletes performed admirably at the Mid South Coast Zone championships held at John O’Dwyer Oval, Croome Road Sporting Complex, on the 14th and 15th of December.
Against some tough competition from the Albion Park, Euro Coast, Lake Illawarra, Shoalhaven, St Georges Basin, and Milton Ulladulla Centres, Kiama athletes did the club proud.
Athletes from the Under 8 to Under 17 Age Groups who finished in the top three progress to the Region 4 Championships to be held at Myimbarr Community Park, Flinders, in February 2020.
Kiama’s gold medal winners on the weekend were Stephen Alfano (Under 10), Jude Basnet (Under 17), Matt Cordell (Under 17), Malia Cummins (Under 12), Benji Davis (Under 9), Cohen Deegan (Under 15), Zoe Haylen (Under 13), Ella Hewitt (Under 13), Maiya Hewitt (Under 11), Elias Oldfield (Under 13), Isaac Oldfield (Under 11), Georgia Richards (Under 17), Eliza Schweitzer (Under 15) and Claire Vogelaar (Under 11).

Update (20/12/2019)
Now that results from other Zones have filtered through a total of 27 Kiama athletes have qualified for the Region 4 Championships. This includes qualifiers on “next best” times and distances.
