Sixteen (16) of Kiama’s Little Athletes made the long journey to West End Oval, Griffith, for the Region 4 Championships on the weekend of February 4th and 5th. Region 4 is made up of four (4) Zones with Centres from Eastern Riverina, Mid South Coast, South Coast Highlands and Western Riverina.
The Kiama Centre had nine (9) athletes secure first and second places automatically qualifying them for the State Track and Field Championships at Sydney Olympic Park from March 18 to 19.
Gold medal performances were recorded by Stephen Alfano (Under 13 Boys 80m Hurdles), Zoe Haylen (Under 17 Girls Javelin), Ella Hewitt (Under 17 Girls 100m, 300m Hurdles, Long Jump and Triple Jump), Maiya Hewitt (Under 15 Girls 100m, 200m, 200m Hurdles, Long Jump and Triple Jump), Henry Keane (Under 11 Boys 80m Hurdles), Temana Searle (Under 12 Boys Long Jump) and Amelia Weatherlake (Under 17 Girls 100m Hurdles).
