Congratulations to the 11 athletes from the Kiama Little Athletics Centre who represented the Centre with distinction at the State Track and Field Championships on the weekend. There were some personal best times, heights and distances set, but just reaching this level of competition was a great achievement.
The highlight of the Championships, from a Kiama viewpoint, was the double gold to Under 10 Boys athlete Taj Ford. After claiming the 800m in record time at last year’s State Championships Taj defended his title on Sunday in a time of 2:31.28. This was after he added gold in the 1500m to his resume in a thrilling race on Saturday morning winning in a time of 5:09.22.
Under 9 Girl Imogen Harrison placed 5th in the long jump with a great lap 3.73m and 7th in the 70m sprint.
Other top ten finishes included Cassidy Morris who placed seventh in the Under 15 Girls’ triple jump and Maggie Page 8th in the Under 13 Girls 1500m walk.
Special mention to Naomi Robinson who placed third in the 100m, long jump and discus for the Under 17 Girls para-athletes. Naomi continues to show what the true spirit of little athletics is all about.

Don’t forget that our annual Presentation Day will be held from 5:30pm on Friday 27 March 2015 at Kiama Sports Complex.
This year a free sausage sizzle will be held in conjunction with the Presentation.
A reminder that athletes must have attended a minimum of 50% of competition mornings and/or evenings from their date of registration to be eligible for end of season awards. “Orientation Days” are included in this calculation.
We would like to take this opportunity to ask you to attend our AGM and consider becoming a member of our Committee for the 2015-2016 season. The Centre needs new Committee members to ensure it remains viable and to ultimately guarantee Little Athletics will continue in Kiama come September. The AGM commences at 7:30pm on Wednesday 22 April at Kiama Leagues Club. Please come and join us.
