Thirty nine (39) of Kiama’s Little Athletes made the short trip north to Myimbarr Community Park in Flinders for the Region 4 Championships on the weekend of February 13 to 14.  Region 4 is made up of four (4) Zones with Centres from Eastern Riverina, Mid South Coast, South Coast Highlands and Western Riverina.  Across the four (4) Zones there are twenty eight (28) individual Little Athletics Centres.

The Kiama Centre performed well on a hot weekend of track and field competition with eleven (11) athletes securing first and second place automatically qualifying them for the State Track and Field Championships at Sydney Olympic Park from March 18 to 20.

Among the highlights were the performances of Under 12 athlete, Georgia Richards, who claimed gold in the 800m and 1500m and Under 14 athlete, Nathan Scollary, who won gold in the 800m and 3000m.  Grace Mahon finished first in the Under 14 Girls long jump with the Page boys, Matthew and Christian, claiming gold in the Under 9 Boys 700m walk and the Under 11 Boys 1100m walk respectively.

Well done to Gabrielle Marriott and Cassidy Morris who have joined the list of State qualifiers based upon performance in their respective events.
